BIONIKA Medline Ltd. has expanded its implant abutment system with an invention that is unique worldwide.

Introducing BIOPOZ bite impression heads, BIONIKA’s innovation and the new generation of abutments, is based on the idea of a Hungarian dental technician, József Rátonyi.

The latest product from BIONIKA Medline Ltd., BIOPOZ system, is a novel solution in the world. Using this system has created the possibility of accurate taking impression also in the case of implant prostheses.

Implant level bite impression heads

Bite impression instruments are needed to determine the plane where the chewing surfaces of the upper and lower teeth meet. In the case of edentulous mouths, several solutions are available in dental practice. However, there was no suitable solution for implant level.

BIONIKA Medline Ltd. has developed a simple, unique procedure and tool kit for the accurate bite adjustment of implant-supported prostheses based on the idea of a Hungarian dental technician, József Rátonyi.

The solution is to provide the implant with an abutment of interlocking elements that ensure parallelism of the implant within wide limits. In order to allow the system to be used for large angular misalignments (e.g. 60°/90°), a conical geometry is preferred. One solution is to use an external conical abutment with a magnetic insert in the implant together with a cap arm connected to a magnet of the same strength. The magnetic connection ensures an easy but secure positioning of the abutments.

Selection of bite impression copings

Bite impression copings are available for any implantation system. The cope design for all systems has different connection to the implant – head part is same.

So, the head design is usually like a 60° multi-unit tapered solution, also available with a 90° design, and with a magnet instead of the upper multi-unit small screw. This ensures a secure positioning of the bite coping but also its easy removal.

The bite impression heads are available in a design that can be fixed directly to the implant (implant level) and in a design that can be placed on multi-unit heads (MU level), according to the standard dental prosthesis used.

Steps for taking impression with BIOPOZ

The bite heads are screwed into the implants. The bite impression caps are placed on the bite impression heads. The caps are magnetically attached.

  1. In the dental clinic, the dentist takes a precision impression of the implants in the jawbone and records the physiological bite height (centric tray) in the usual way.
  2. In the laboratory, the specimens are articulated at mid-height, based on the centric tray record. This is followed by screwing the bite heads, fitting the bite caps and mounting the registration plate in the cap.
  3. In the clinic, the dentist screws the bite heads into the implant and fits the registration plates. He/she performs the registration (with support pin) and then fixes the registration plates together.
  4. In the laboratory, the registration plates in the central relational position are used to articulate the specimens.
